We have had some great news from Musul. Here is a photo of the completed house - it shows it with laundry drying and windows, doors and roof in place !

Sherston Musul now has a new head called Madam Agnes Mosiany who is working very actively with staff and pupils. Agnes and another teacher moved into their new house in February !

The house was built by a team brought together by  I Will Not complain who built the first classroom many years ago with the help of Mrs Liddle and other Sherston volunteers.

The roof may yet get painted green as its shiny and can be seen 15 miles away !

Sherston School has been asked to focus its fund-raising in 2011 for the following:

  1. Football goals & Netball nets
  2. Football & Netball kit (anyone got contacts with any teams for donations?)
  3. More water tanks and gutters for the kitchen and replacement guttering for the nursery (the old wooden building) which currently don't work.
  4. It would be nice to raise enough for tanks and guttering for the teacher accommodation as well as this is wasted water capture. Yet again the drought this year has been particularly harsh.

If you would like to help support Sherston Musul you can donate on-line via the PINK donate now link on the website homepage  http://www.sherstonmusul.com/ - this will benefit from GiftAid (if you give £10 using Gift Aid, it's worth £12.50 to the charity).

Also, for anyone feeling energetic and wants to help in other ways, our friend Gill in Kenya has organised a 3 peaks challenge in the UK to raise money for the schools in the Musul area including her ongoing support for Sherston Musul including salaries and staff/volunteer training etc.

More details if your interested in signing up are here at their charity site: http://ol-lentilletrust.org/education.html

They are UK and Kenya registered so any money raised for this will benefit from GiftAid (if you give £10 using Gift Aid, it's worth £12.50 to the charity) and it helps Sherston Musul School.

All the best,

Gordon and Debby Liddle
